About Your Oil Tank
When should I order my heating oil?
Running completely out of oil can cause a variety of problems, so we recommend placing your order when your tank is still about ¼ full.
How do I know how much oil I need?
Once you know your tank's capacity, check the gauge on your tank to see how much oil you have remaining. For example, if you know your tank can hold a maximum of 250 gallons, and the gauge shows your tank is ¼ full, that means you can order about 180 gallons.
How do I find out how much oil my tank holds?
Check your tank for a manufacturer’s plate, which will include the tank’s capacity.

Does it cost anything to sign up with InstaOil?
No! Using our app is completely free. There’s no contract or service plan to sign, and no fees.
Who can use InstaOil?
InstaOil currently delivers to homes and businesses within certain regions of Connecticut. Enter your zip code to see if we serve your area. If not, you can sign up to be notified when your town gets added to our list.
How do I schedule an oil delivery?
Once you’ve downloaded InstaOil and created your account, just click the “Schedule a Delivery” button in the app. Type in how many gallons you need, select a delivery date from the available days, choose your payment method, and you’re done.
Is there a minimum order for heating oil delivery?
We require a minimum of 100 gallons for every oil delivery. (You’ll get our lowest price per gallon by ordering 201 gallons or more!)
How do I pay for my oil delivery?
We accept all major credit cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Can I use InstaOil to purchase oil for multiple properties?
Yes. You can manage all of your properties (provided they are within our service area) through a single account.
Can I edit or cancel my order?
You can cancel or reschedule your oil delivery through the app, up to the day before your delivery date. No changes or cancellations can be made on the scheduled date of delivery.
If you need to change the address, number of gallons, or payment method used for your order, you must cancel the order and request a new delivery.
About Your Delivery
Do I need to be home for my oil delivery?
No. We only need access to your fill pipe to deliver oil.
Do you deliver on weekends or holidays?
Not typically. However, in some cases (such as an impending snowstorm), we may open up weekend delivery spots.
What should I do to ensure the fill pipe is accessible for delivery?
Before your oil delivery, ensure that your driveway and the path to the fill pipe are clear of snow and ice. Please make sure there is adequate parking space in your driveway, keep pets indoors or away from the area, and unlock any gates that block your driveway or delivery site.
What if I ordered more oil than my tank can hold?
No problem. We’ll fill up your oil tank, and you’ll be issued a credit for the excess gallons you paid for.
If you’d rather have the overpayment refunded to your credit card, go to the order in the app and request a refund instead of a credit. Otherwise, the credit will automatically be applied to your next order.
Please note that there is always a 100-gallon minimum charge. If your tank takes less than 100 gallons, you’ll be charged for 100 gallons, and credited for any additional oil you paid for beyond this.
Do you offer automatic oil delivery?
No, InstaOil offers on-demand oil delivery only. This allows us to keep our prices low, and to pass the savings along to you! There are no annual contracts, no surprise bills, and no fees to use InstaOil.
